Green Open Homes Week: 13th – 21st September 2025
Do you want to find out more about how to green your home or lifestyle or reduce your monthly bills? Or would you like to share what you’ve done with others? Word of mouth is the best way to share knowledge and encourage others to reduce their environmental impact. Green Open Homes Week homes and gardens across Southampton will open their doors to the public to showcase a range of energy-saving, water-saving and other eco-friendly features and tips. Hear first hand from ordinary people who’ve already made changes and can tell you what works and what doesn’t, from major purchases like solar panels to simple lifestyle hacks.

Solar panels, batteries, and solar water heating
Insulation, draught-proofing, and DIY solutions
Home heating including heat pumps and other low carbon home heating and cooling
Food growing, composting, food preserving, and supermarket alternatives
Recycled, upcycled, eco-friendly materials, and plastic-free

Wildlife, eco-friendly gardening, re-wilding
Join the Green Open Homes line-up and show fellow residents what you’ve done to your home
We are looking for properties of all types, from flats to detached houses, from rental to ownership, because there are things you can do whatever your situation. If you only want to open your garden, that’s fine too. You won’t have to open for the whole period and we will run a booking system to make sure you are in control of who comes when. We’re following the guidance from the green homes network and will provide help and advice to householders opening their homes. We will not be publishing addresses of open homes on the website. We are also interested in any local independent businesses who would like to showcase what they’re doing for the environment.
